Supporting Widows and Older Women in COVID-19 Era – 2020

August 5, 2020

In 2020, as the world grappled with the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Come Study International responded to the urgent needs of the most vulnerable members of our community. Recognizing that the pandemic disproportionately affected widows and older women, who often lacked the support and resources needed to navigate such a crisis, our team embarked on a compassionate mission to provide assistance.

During the height of the pandemic, many families faced severe challenges, including job losses, food insecurity, and a lack of essential supplies. Among the hardest hit were widows and elderly women, who were already marginalized in society and faced additional difficulties due to their age, lack of income, and the social isolation caused by the pandemic. The economic and emotional strain was overwhelming, and it was clear that these women needed immediate support.

With this in mind, the Come Study International team launched a targeted initiative to identify widows and older women in need, particularly in under-resourced communities.  Our drive focused on providing food items and personal essentials to help alleviate some of the burdens these women were facing. The aid packages included essential supplies such as rice, beans, cooking oil, salt, soap, sanitary products, and other necessities that were critical during the pandemic.

The COVID-19 era was a difficult time for everyone, but it also offered an opportunity to demonstrate the power of collective action and solidarity. This initiative is just one example of our ongoing commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society.
